Anime Travel 33 - Hyouka in Real Life

Kajiyabashi Bridge in Takayama

"I'm curious!", or in Japanese "「私、気になります‼︎」,Watashi ki ni narimasu!!" will always be the main catchphrase of our favorite heroine, Eru Chitanda. I spent my first day of 2025 exploring around Takayama city, the place that I did not able to fully explore when I first went to Hida Furukawa for my Your Name post in 2022. I would like to recommend Takayama to everyone especially if you like Kyoto, but don't really like to tourist overcrowding.

Takayama Shōwa-kan Museum where you can experience retro Japan

1. Kajiyabashi and Miyagawa Morning Market

The first spot that I visited was around Kajiyabashi and Miyagawa Morning Market. Some places has been changed prior to the depiction of the locations in the anime.

2. Hida Highschool

This is the highschool where Oreki and the Classic Literature club goes to everyday solving "mundane" mysteries. I did not get too close because it might be a nuisance to the locals. This is quite far from the central Takayama, 20 mins in walking distance to be exact.

3. Takayama City Main Library

Known as Kanshōkan/煥章館 in Japanese, it is shown in the anime when Oreki and Chitanda were investigating the "helicopter" mystery. Too bad it was closed when I visited so I cannot see the interior of the library.
