Anime Travel 31 - Insomniacs After School in Real Life

Nanao High School where Ganta & Isaki's High was based on
(Even with actual observatory)

This is the third time I have visited Noto peninsula area in Ishikawa Prefecture. This time, for one of my most favorite romance series that I relate to well because of being an all-nigther, Insomniac After School (JP:君は放課後インソムニア, Kimi Wa Hokago Insomnia).

Being the third time going here despite the hardship (of straining on my financial condition), I can say that I fall in love with Hokuriku in general with Kanazawa/Noto Peninsula in particular and putting it among my most favorite, if not the most favorite region in Japan.

The main setting was based around locations in Nanao City, Ishikawa Prefecture. Previously when I explored the Noto Peninsula, it was for my other pilgrimage for Hanasaku Iroha.

One note is that Noto Peninsula had a huge earthquake disaster at the beginning of 2024. However, even with all the hardship they have to endure, I was moved with the motivation of the locals that they kept being strong and the revival process is kept going until this day (at least when I visited on December 31st 2024).

Encouragement message in front of Nanao Bus for the Noto and Ishikawa
to keep fighting despite of hardships

1. Nanao Station

I firstly arrived at Nanao Station. At the surrounding area, we can find lots of spots that are shown in the anime.

Too bad I could not enter Nanao Marine park which is beside the market. Might be because of recovery effort after last years Noto Earthquake?

This is the school where Ganta, Isaki, and others went to. I was amazed that they actually had an observatory at the top of their school.

6. Hiranoya

The okonomiyaki restaurant owned by Kanikawa's family apparently has a real counterpart by the name of Hiranoya. Too bad it was not opened as I went there during new year's eve.
