Anime Travel 24 – K-On in Real Life

Former Toyosato Elementary School

This should be the OG masterpiece that introduced the genre cute girls + bands which was quite a unique take for it's time (We can see how many similar works can be watched today). Being one of the earliest anime I've ever watched, it was still able to serve chill slice-of-life cute-girls-doing-cute-thing vibe that is hard to beat up to today.

K-On's spot can most be found around Kyoto where the studio, KyoAni is located. One particular famous spot that is a-bit far is the former elementary school that has been transformed into the Sakuragaoka HS in the anime, which is located in Toyosato, Shiga Prefecture.

For the second spots and so on, these places are located around Kyoto city. These places are quite far and between, but I think you can explore the whole city in one day while you can enjoy the beauty of this city has to offer.

All goods related to K-On inside the cafeteria's exhibition hall

1. The Former Toyosato Elementary School Building

This is a former elementary school that has been transformed into a local museum. Yui's school Sakuragaoka is inspired by this old building. The building consisted three separate building, the main building, the hall, and the library.
