Anime Travel 3 – SSSS.Dynazenon in Real Life

Most of the time I generally consume slice-of-life anime because I don't really like heavy stuff on my table. But after watching the legendary anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, I've also been watching mechas lately. Thanks to SSSS.GRIDMAN I started to realize that mechas contain not only childish robot fights, there are rather heavy element revolves around the psychology of human itself that make this genre interesting (definitely not because of Rikka's plot" *wink*).

Anyway, SSSS.DYNAZENON (2021) stands as a successor to the SSSS.GRIDMAN (2018), set in a different universe but they (might) correlate to one another (some GRIDMAN characters appeared in DYNAZENON). The connection might be covered further when the upcoming movie by Studio.Trigger called GRIDMAN x DYNAZENON (I wonder how did they decide that creative name /s) is released within this year.

The location of the anime is called Fujiyokidai (JP: フジヨキ台), a fictional area of Tokyo. Many places are shared with SSSS.GRIDMAN's location Tsutsujidai (JP: ツツジ台) as they might be set at a similar location, but under different parallel universe (I might update this post to a mix series in the future).

1. Ayase Floodgate

The most notable place would be the floodgate which is highly inspired from Ayase floodgate at the bank of Arakawa river, in Horikiri, Katsushika Ward.

2. Ikedaya Sake Shop

This shop is located on the other side of the Arakawa River within the residential area near Ushida St. The following shots were taken beside the shop.

3. Sideway of Hamura Railroad

This railroad is located away from the previous locations, Hamura St., which is on the complete opposite side of Tokyo. This location also appeared in Clannad, which I plan to post in the future.

4. Mitake Bridge

If we take the train from Hamura St. further to the direction of Okutama, we can find a beautiful highlands and gorges, with Mitake bridge that look a lot like the place where Yomogi and the gang train on how to control Dynazenon.

Bonus : SSSS.Dynazenon Pop-Up Shop in Marui Shinjuku

When SSSS.Dynazenon was aired last summer, I went to the pop-up shop in Shinjuku Marui which was held from Jun 5th to 13th 2021. Pop-up shop event like this is often held as a PR effort of a certain anime, and we can often find time-limited merchandise as well as the well-known lottery for extra limited prizes (JP: 宝くじ、takarakuji).

Who should have known, I actually won the grand-prize of the poster complete with signs from VAs of the anime. (Dunno why I am so lucky that day)

There were still a lot of scenes I need to add in the future, such as the school, bridge where they trained on operating Dynazenon, the station, etc. (Many of these places are similar to scenes from SSSS.Gridman so I might update this post so I can compare with Gridman too.)
